Only thing I knew about Japanese Taiko performance before this performance came from the show performed by the college association. So this show really surprised me. It used various lighting effects with transparent curtain in many scenes. The new technology, plus with Japanese Taiko, made this performance amazing. I had thought that most of Taiko performance were about drum and rhythm. But this one also included some parts of beautiful melody. One scene impressed me was that someone was playing the flute, the song was soft and quite and green lighting was used. The performance was going on sometimes in fast pace sometimes in slow pace. And the theatre is not large, and I sat in the last row but still saw performers’ faces clearly. They looked so happy during the performance and always smiled. I enjoy the show if the performers are enjoying it. And in some parts of the performance, performers interacted with audiences and audiences gave a great reaction. I enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere here.

It was an amazing show! I had no prior knowledge of traditional Japanese music but I was still able to enjoy the show. I thought I might get little bored during the 80 minutes of the show but time flew and I enjoyed every single minute of it! The music played in the show was very beautiful. I never expected drums and flutes to create such a beautiful harmony. All of the people who starred in the show were very energetic and they all did an excellent job. I’m sure everyone who attended this show enjoyed their time. I highly recommend this show to everyone who likes music. Oh, and the lighting during the show was beautiful. It matched perfectly with the music and overall atmosphere inside the theater.

An absolutely spectacular show! It was interactive, original and kept me smiling for the full 80 minutes. Performances didn't only revolve around the drums themselves, but with several modern day twists to traditional instruments and dances. The entire flow of the show was rather smooth, though I wasn't quite sure whether there was a story behind it all. Nonetheless, the unexpectedness of what was going to happen next kept me on the edge of my seat, and with each performance, I was amazed. My expectations were well surpassed not only because of how fluent the performers moved and how you can tell they must have spent months if not years, training and perfecting some of their moves (trust me, I have no idea how they managed to pull many of them off), but also because they looked like they were having fun performing for the audience. You can feel how united, supported and in true High School Musical fashion, "we're-all-in-this-together" the performers were as they made eye contact and smiled at one another. Overall, a very fun, enjoyable and jaw-dropping performance by DRUM TAO and it will remain one of my favorite highlights in Tokyo.
