The Kenshin Festival in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, commemorates the heroism and virtues of Uesugi Kenshin, one of the great generals of the Sengoku era. One of the main highlights of the festival is the Samurai Parade, during which performers clad in traditional armor and holding swords and spears march through the streets of the city. Additionally, the festival is home to the Re-enactment of the Battle of Kawanakajima, which depicts the actual military events and strategies of the battle and cannot be seen anywhere else in the country.
