Things to know
Takahata Isao: A Legend in Japanese Animation is an event honoring the work of the late acclaimed animation director Takahata Isao. Often regarded as of the great pioneers of Japanese animation, the event reflects upon Takahata's work in animation from the 60's and the first animated movie he directed in 1968 called "The Great Adventure of Horus, Prince of the Sun", up until his last piece "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya" he created with Studio Ghibli. Takahata is a co-founder of Studio Ghibli along with Miyazaki Hayao and others, and is famous for directing the Studio Ghibli movie "Grave of the Fireflies" after focusing his animation into more Japan themed works. By looking through his works and methods, as well as exhibiting until now unseen documents, take a look into the world of Takahata Isao and his great influence on Japanese animation. © PIA Corporation.
