This exhibition brings viewers in Japan the chance to see exclusive artworks from London’s Courtauld Gallery. British man and industrialist Samuel Courtauld, founded the gallery used his keen eye for aesthetics to build a one of a kind collection of masterpiece impressionism artwork. Many pieces from this collection are modern French paintings from the 1920s. He later went on to donate his collection to the University in London in the early 1930s. The pieces depict the impressionist and post-impressionist are movements. The exhibit will help visitors understand the environment of the era the paintings were created, the meaning behind the pieces, and methods that were used to create the artworks. The collection consists of about 60 pieces featuring famous artists such as Vincent Van Gogh and Edouard Manet.
