Things to know

Amanohashidate Machi Akari Light-up is an annual summer night light up event in Kyoto, held in the Monju area just south of the Amanohashidate sandbar. The area is already renowned as one of the top three scenic spots in Japan, so checking it out during the day is also highly recommended. However, at night the sandbar is lit up to make for quite the magical atmosphere! The sandbar is lit up with Japanese paper lamps and colorful Japanese paper umbrellas allowing you to enjoy a particularly exotic Japanese atmosphere. There are also night cruises and restaurants and shops available along with a plethora of different events to enjoy in the area. There's even a bar along the beach, so you enjoy your favorite drink whilst taking a stroll and soaking up the atmosphere! So why not spend a dreamy relaxing night taking a stroll along the beautifully lit-up sandbar after a day of sightseeing in Kyoto this summer!
