概要
The Moshioyaki Shinji Ceremony is an ancient Japanese ritual conducted to honor the Japanese deity Shiotsuchi no Ojinokami. Believed to be the one who taught the Japanese the technique for distilling salt from seawater, the Japanese enshrined him for his gift. The ritual involves utilizing ancient cauldrons believed to have been used by Shiotsuchi noojinokami himself, filling them with seawater continuously while simultaneously boiling off the seawater. While attending the festival, visitors have a chance to buy Shiogama, a salty rice treat made with sugar and red shiso. |
