This Kishiwada Danjiri Festival is a continuation of the festival by the same name that happens in September. Just like its earlier counterpart, the main highlight of this event is the parading of wooden danjiri floats through the streets of the city. Though the September festival is more popular, there are more floats at the October festival, which means more chances to see the artistic carpentry. Originally a festival carried out to pray for abundant harvests, there are also performances of traditional fan dances accompanied by taiko drum music. There are also plenty of food stalls with local specialties for sale, so make sure not to miss the celebrations. |
