Nearby the Imperial Palace, Chidorigafuchi Ryokudo Road is nationally famous for its cherry blossoms. The road boasts approximately 260 Yoshino and Oshima cherry trees along a 700-meter-long promenade, creating a tunnel of cherry blossoms to walk through. At night the flowers are lit up, and visitors can fully enjoy the fairytale-like atmosphere of the night blossoms reflected on the surface of the water of the canal at Chidorigafuchi Boat Pier, which has special nighttime operating hours. (The light-ups use eco-friendly LED bulbs so that no damage is caused to the cherry blossoms.) There is also a shopping district in the vicinity, and sometimes popular collaboration events are held, resulting in many people lining up at the shops. The cherry blossoms around Chidorigafuchi can be enjoyed from a free tour bus called Sakura Karugamo-go, and there are also special operations of the free tour bus called Marunouchi Shuttle Sakura, which circles the town. Don't miss the chance to experience Japan's hanami (flower-watching) culture for yourself! Note: There are no parking facilities near Chidorigafuchi Ryokudo Road, so please use public transportation. The Kudanshita entrance of the Chidorigafuchi Ryokudo Road gets very crowded every year, and during the light ups sometimes admission will be restricted. During the period of the festival, the waiting time at the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Station is shorter than that of the Kudanshita side, and the festival can be accessed from there by walking along the Ryokudo Road.
