Tsukurimon Festival, where animal figures like elephants, little towns and other objects such as boats etc are made with real vegetables fruits and flowers has a rich history of over 300 years in Takaoka city, Toyama prefecture. Displayed throughout the city in September every year, it is a festival that prays for further abundant harvests. Local children and companies prepare the arts and crafts with some works taking a month to finish! Most of the works are also based on things that happened that year and that reflect the mood of the country. |
