Things to know

Kobe Port Marine Fireworks Festival is one of the largest fireworks displays in Hyogo Prefecture. Fireworks are one of the major attractions of the Japanese summer. Every region in Japan has their own fireworks festivals, to celebrate the summer, to invigorate and inspire citizens and sometimes to remember specific events or people. It's a social gathering as much as it is a show, with many families, couples or friends going together. The current Kobe Port Marine Fireworks Festival was first held in 1971, though fireworks festivals in Kobe port have a history going back to 1933. The current festival is extremely popular, attracting a crowd of about 280,000 spectators. The Kobe fireworks are particularly attractive because it blends in nicely with the beautiful Kobe skyline at night. © PIA Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
