The Chureito Pagoda is a monument dedicated to the war dead in Arakurayama. It is part of the Arakurayama Sengen Park. In mid-April, the park turns into a sea of cherry blossoms as more than 650 cherry trees of the Somei Yoshino variety start to bloom. The sight of the five-storied pagoda monument, the cherry blossoms, and Mt. Fuji in the distance has made this one of the most popular tourist spots among both Japanese and foreign travelers.
