Hanahasu Koen Park, located in Minamiechizen, Fukui Prefecture, produces the largest number of lotus flowers in all of Japan, boasting around 130 different species from all over the world. The park itself is meticulously maintained, and included in its serene landscape is not just flowers and other plant life, but also a rest house built to resemble a traditional samurai residence building. In July and August, lotus photography events, lotus cooking workshops, and other events themed around the flowers are held here. In a 15-tatami-mat Japanese-style room, there is a stage and a lotus-viewing platform surrounding a sunken hearth, and during events visitors can enjoy lotus udon noodles, lotus tea, and other treats. In addition to the lotus flowers, there are also plenty of other facilities nearby, including an open lawn, a fruit area, and more.
