The Higashi Chaya District, a popular tourist spot in Kanazawa, was designated as a national important historical district for its beautiful, traditional buildings. The buildings have traditional wooden walls and doors, and the pavement is made of old stones. It is a great area for enjoying food and shopping, with cafes and shops selling traditional Japanese sweets and arts and crafts.
