This is the largest silver mine in Japan, which reached its peak in the 16th and 17th centuries. The silver mine is also designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is estimated that Japan has produced about a third of the world’s silver at the height of its prosperity, and is said that silver from the Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine accounted for a considerable sum. You can enjoy walking around the town in a relaxed mood while meeting local people in places such as the Omori area, where historical buildings and cultural assets lies in front of your eyes.
