Miyajidake Jinja Shrine in Fukutsu city is known as a great spot for viewing the sunset. It is famous for the “Hikari-no-Michi” or "road of light". Every year, on certain days of October and February, the sun sets right above the pathway that starts from the shrine, into the city, leading to the sea. The shrine is also known for its huge straw rope, changed every year by 1,500 people. Miyajidake Shrine became known all over Japan when it was used in a TV commercial by a Japanese airline company. It is one of the most popular shrines in Fukuoka prefecture, attracting over 3 million visitors each year. In addition to its scenic location, it is interesting because of the eight Okunomiya shrines that you can find inside.
