Things to know

Mizuki Shigeru Road is a road dedicated to the manga artist Shigeru Mizuki who is best known for GeGeGe no Kitaro and his yokai stories (yokai are Japanese monsters). It is located in the Sakaiminato city of Tottori Prefecture where he grew up. The road is 800 m long and starts at the Sakaiminato station. Along the road, there are numerous notable attractions for manga fans, most notably the over 150 statues of Mizuki's famous creatures and characters. All of which feature barcodes which you can scan with your smartphone to get additional information. The statues are also lit up at night. Also, there are other facilities inspired by Mizuki's fantasy universe, including a yokai shrine, a yokai post, and a kappa spring.
