Mt. Tsukuba
Mt. Tsukuba is a 877 m (2,877 ft) mountain located in Ibaraki prefecture, perfect for hiking and only a short trip from Tokyo, too! If Mt. Fuji is the mountain of the west, then Mt. Tsukuba is the mountain of the east! Also known as the "Purple Peak", due to the surface of the mountain having a purple glow to it in the morning and evening sun, this mountain has a multitude of different hiking courses to enjoy. Mt. Tsukuba contains different courses, each varying in length and difficulty, and each with their own unique views and trail characteristics. The views at the top are worth the climb. Make sure to bring sunblock, bug repellent, a good pair of sneakers, and lots of water. The top of the mountain always brings cool, crisp air and a nice breeze.
