Mutsuwan Bay

Beautiful Scenery
Free Admission

Mutsuwan Bay, of Aomori prefecture, is a scenic bay between the larger Japanese islands of Honshu and Hokkaido. Important for fisheries, it also plays host to a number of beautiful coastal sights. You can take a tour of the Hakkoda Memorial Ship, a vast decommissioned ship used to ferry cargo between the Japanese islands. With space and rails onboard for picking up train cars, it would have historically been responsible for transporting massive amounts of cargo between Japan's major islands. The role that vessels such as these used to play in Japan can scarcely be overstated, though these days it just floats in the water. And with other interesting sights along the coast, such as the shipwreck beach, and the wooden skeletons left behind on it, there's plenty to see around Mutsu Bay. The best thing you can do is to just explore.
