Nabana no Sato in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Tokai region. Sometimes called a “theme park of greenery and flowers,” it boasts a number of gardens, flowerbeds, and other attractions. The begonia garden, in particular, is the largest in Japan, and visitors can enjoy the sight of blooming flowers all year round in its greenhouses. Nabana no Sato also hosts several seasonal events throughout the year, at which visitors can enjoy various kinds of flowers.
Different kinds of plants can be enjoyed at times of the year, but particularly popular are winter and spring, when Nabana no Sato transforms into one of the most distinguished illumination spots in Japan. Along with large-scale illuminations such as the Tunnel of Light and Fuji and the Sea, the Yoshino cherry blossoms, shidare-zakura weeping cherries, and Kawazu-zakura cherries of the area are also lit up when they begin to bloom.
