Oko no Taki Waterfall is the largest waterfall on Yakushima Island and has also been selected as one of One Hundred Waterfalls of Japan. Boasting a drop of 88 meters, the largest in Kyushu, a huge quantity of water falls down and sprays out, creating a majestic scene. In summer, it's nice to go up close the waterfall and cool off in the splash. Nearby is a place where the Oko Yusui Spring bubbles up, and it's said that drinking from it will bring good health. Oko no Taki Waterfall can be accessed in about ten minutes by car from Kurio village, and the road from the parking lot is also wheelchair-accessible.
