What we'll do

Aomori prefecture has all kinds of charms! You can go to Aomori city and Hirosaki city.
If you go to Aomori you absolutely have to try nokkedon, which is where we'll start our tour.
After we fill our stomachs, we'll set out on a course to experience as much of Aomori's charms as we can. We'll see nationally famous neputa at the Neputamura Village, visit Hirosaki Koen Park and the Kasamatsu Pass, and take a ride on the ropeway.
On this tour you'll be able to experience the nature and picturesque scenery of the Tohoku area, giving you a refreshing break from the fatigue of daily life.

  1. 1
Aomori Gyosai Center (Furukawa Fish Market)

The main branch of the Aomori Gyosai Center is located in Furukawa Market, an Aomori City public kitchen near Aomori Station. From fish caught just that morning off the nearby coast to fresh fish from all over the country, the Center always has a plethora of seafood lined up on display.
Even early in the morning, the shop is crowded with people who have come to eat nokkedon, an Aomori specialty.

  2. 2
    Hirosaki Koen Park

A symbol of the people of Hirosaki, Hirosaki park is a park with a gross area of 492,000 square meters positioned at the center of Hirosaki. The park surrounds Hirosaki castle, which was built by the daimyo in the Sengoku period (c. 1467-1600). There is something for everyone to enjoy in each of the four seasons, the cherry blossom festival in Spring is said to be Japan’s finest, a lively Nebuta festival is held in summer, there is a Momiji festival in Autumn, and a Snow Lantern Festival can be attended in Winter.

  3. 3
    Tsugaruhan Neputamura Village

Tsugaruhan Neputamura Village is a facility full of things to see and experiences, such as Tsugaru-jamisen, the local handicrafts of Tsugaru, and not least the Hirosaki Neputa, which have been designated as important intangible folk cultural property. "Neputa" is the name given to the summer festivals that take place all over Aomori Prefecture. At the Hirosaki Neputa Hall, you can marvel at the two large-scale Neputa floats and the performances of traditional Japanese "hayashi" festival music.

  4. 4
    The Kasamatsu Pass

The Kasamatsu Pass, located on Mt. Hakkoda, is famous for its beautiful autumn leaves in the fall and its snow circuit in the winter. Please visit in autumn and winter when you can see the beautiful scenery.

  5. 5
    Hakkoda Ropeway

Hakkoda Ropeway allows you to enjoy the surrounding scenery all year round. Spring and early summer bring new greeneries, fall brings the changing colors of the leaves (late September to early October), and winter brings frosted trees (February and March). From the ropeway, you can even see far-off Hokkaido. You can walk from Sanroku Station to the peak of Tamoyatsudake, which is 1,324 meters high, in about 10 minutes. The gondola lift has large windows, and it provides you with a all-around view of the surroundings.

  6. 6
    Sukayu Onsen

The Sukayu Onsens have been in use for over 300 years. The wooden facilities communicate the essence of Japan. And, of course, there’s the Sukayu Onsen’s legendary all-cypress large bath, “Hiba Sennin Furo.” This name comes from the bath’s size (roughly one tennis court) being enough to accommodate 1,000 people (sennin = 1,000 people). Hiba Sennin Furo is a mixed-sex bath, so women can enter wearing the bathing robes available in the store.
