What we'll do
On this tour, you’ll be able to enjoy the inspiring natural scenery of Kokonoe. While walking along the Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge, endless nature will spread out in front of you, including views of waterfalls, gorges, and virgin forests. Raised high in the air, this spot is beautiful enough to be called a “sky path.” At Komatsu Jigoku Hell, you’ll be able to observe firsthand the heat and steam bubbling up from beneath the earth; just as the name implies, the sight is enough to remind visitors of Hell. Lastly, stop by Kinriko Lake, a lake small enough that you can easily walk around its whole circumference. Additionally, this spot has recently become famous on Instagram, so don’t forget to take some photos.

Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge
Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge is the highest suspension bridge in Japan that people can cross. Its length is 390 m, its height 173 m. Before your eyes on the bridge, you look down on a waterfall that has also been selected as “Japan’s 100 waterfalls,” and at your feet, there is a virgin forest in the Naruko River valley. Autumnal colors, when the trees have turned deep red, are a highlight. It is called a “walking path in the sky” because you can fully enjoy a 360-degree view of seasonal nature.Show spot information
Komatsu Jigoku Hell
Komatsu Jigoku is in the Aso Kuju National Park. Here, one can see erupting hot mud. It is said that Komatsu Jigoku got its name jigoku (hell) from the red rocks and steam that are created as a result of volcano activity. There is a walking path that people can walk around the area in about 20 minutes (*straying away from the walking path is dangerous so please be careful). The walking path is warm because of the geothermal heat and steam, and the area smells like sulfur because of the hot springs. Nearby the track, there is Hatchobaru Geothermal Power Plant that utilizes geothermal power. There is also Sujiyu Onsen where you can steam using hot spring steam if you bring eggs with you. You put raw eggs in a basket attached to a long stick and you can make hot spring eggs in about 9 minutes. A famous dish in Sujiyu Onsen is Gokuraku hot chicken steamed wildly using hell fumarole. It uses fresh free-range chicken stuffed with cabbage and onions.Show spot information
Kinrinko Lake is a tourist spot representative of Yufuin, and an abundance of nature covers the surrounding area. Because it's located at the bottom of Mt. Yufudake, in the Oita dialect it used to be called "taken shitan ike," which literally translates to "pond at the bottom of the mountain." However, in 1884, Confucian scholar Mouri Kuso saw fish scales shining gold in the setting sun and renamed it Kinrinko (kin (金) = gold, rin (鱗) = scales, ko (湖) = lake). The circumference of the lake is outfitted with a walking path, so visitors can gaze out at the colors of the natural scenery that change with each season while enjoying a leisurely stroll. Also, in the lake, fresh water and hot spring water are mixed, leading the temperature of the water to be relatively high. In early winter mornings steam rises off the lake, creating an enchanting, fairytale-like atmosphere.Show spot information
