Private Shigarakiyaki Pottery Experience
What we'll do
Shigarakiyaki (or Shigaraki ware) is an ancient tradition of stoneware pottery made in Shiga Prefecture that survives and thrives to this day. This experience is a private tour of the Shigaraki area in Koka city where this tradition of pottery is still practiced and refined today. The highlight of the tour is a private visit of a potter's workshop. The artist will talk about his work and his philosophy in the context of Shigaraki's history and tradition and will answer any questions you may have.
The gallery is a ten-minute walk away from Shigaraki station on the Shigaraki Kogen Railway.
