What we'll do

This tour focuses on two neighboring mountains Shinto Shrines called Oiwa Jinjya and Fushimi Inari Taisya.

Oiwa Jinjya:Located at the top of Mount Oiwa, the shrine is only approached from a small path off Kokudo 35. Being known almost exclusively to hikers and trekkers, and even the local people have little knowledge of the shrines background and the reasons why its almost abandoned currently. The strangely decorated gate was actually donated by an Kyoto's renowned artist named Insho Domoto (1891-1975) for the health of his sick mother.

Fushimi Inari Taisya :Fushimi Inari Taisya shrine is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari, which stands at 233 meters and belongs to the shrine grounds. Fushimi Inari is the most important of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice.
