What we'll do

When I woke up in the morning as a child, the sound I always heard was a tapping sound. It's the rhythm of the knife hitting into the cutting board.
I immediately knew that my father was cutting some vegetables probably for miso soup because I smelled the tasty broth of the soup.

He sharpens his knives in the kitchen every now and then. His gift for me when I left my parents place for work was also a kitchen knife for meat and bread.

My father is not a chef, not a special foodie, but a businessman who works for computer programing.
But he cares a lot about his kitchen tools, just like many other parents in Japan who make daily breakfast and lunch boxes for their family.
We all know that it matters a lot for the taste of food, and that matters a lot for the memory of our food experience.

Japanese knives are known for their special quality. But did you know that it has a deep history of Japanese samurai sword creation in Sakai city, Osaka?
This half day tour focuses on a special black smith in Osaka.
It is a trip to meet Mr. Mizuno, a knife craftsman and one of the few sword craftsmen in Japan.

He is a very busy craftsman, so please note that your guide should contact him to confirm his schedule before you officially booking this tour.
But it will be an unforgettable experience to enrich your food experience.

If you are looking for a special gift for a kitchen knife from Japan, join my Japanese knife tour and find the best one for you.

Let's Explore Japan's Old and New with me!

Hi everyone, my name is Lisa, I am a licensed guide approved by the Japan Tourism Agency offering tours about Japanese architecture, gardens and history. Being a foodie, I also love to share the Japanese food culture! I was born and raised in Osaka, the city of excitement and delicious food!! My wonder towards my own culture started when I was completing my bachelor degree in architecture in Kyoto and I started showing around Osaka and Kyoto's cultural properties for foreign travelers as a volunteer guide in 2009. After moving to Tokyo for work in a marketing and promotion field, I started my professional career as a government licensed guide in 2016. Now I am a full-time tour guide based in my hometown, Osaka, and also Kyoto and Nara where the center of Japanese historical architecture, art and crafts! I have met a lot of wonderful people through introducing beautiful cultural properties, and I will look forward to making many more friends :)
