Ninja still exist in many parts of Japan, and each of those regions has its own history and stories to tell. In particular, Iga of Mie Prefecture and Koka of Shiga Prefecture are widely known as the birthplace of ninja. The cultural heritages of the ninja that dot the region are all connected to form one story, and together they were registered as a Japan Heritage Site in 2017.
