The Saga International Balloon Fiesta is one of the largest sky sport events in Asia. This hot air balloon bonanza is carried out just outside of Saga City, Saga Prefecture, and it attracts over 800,000 domestic and worldwide visitors each year. The fiesta spans several days and consists of a variety of events, including the Balloon Competition, in which participants fly hot air balloons and compete to see how close they can get to the target; Balloon Fantasia, at which a variety of unique and creative balloons are put on display; La Montgolfier Nocturne, when the balloons are illuminated after dark by the flames of their burners; Kids Day, and more. There is even a hot air balloon school where visitors can learn how to fly the balloons and, for those who want a break from the giant contraptions, a special stage that hosts concerts and events each day during the fiesta.
