The Hakodatekan Post Office building that was constructed in 1911 was remodeled into a shopping mall, currently referred to as the Hakodate Meijikan. Located in the bay area bustling with tourists, a rich variety of souvenir shops have collected here, offering an abundance of products, including glassware, Hakodate wine, marine products, and other general goods. There are also workshops in which participants can make original crafts such as music boxes and glassware as well Japanese-style clothes and dress rental. (Workshops must be reserved in advance on the official website.)
