Horyuji Temple, which can be found in Nara prefecture, is a Buddhist temple with around 1400 years of history. Dedicated to the Buddha of healing, its construction was begun by an ailing emperor and finished by his son. Having survived a number of fires and earthquakes, the condition of Horyuji Temple remains in very good condition. Visitors should not miss the opportunity to see the main hall, which is both a national treasure and one of the oldest wooden structures in the world. There are a number of ancient treasures of Japanese Buddhism to be found in Horyuji Temple, and visitors with any interest in history or religion should certainly make this one of their destinations.
