The Kyoto Botanical Gardens, located in Kitayama in the northeastern part of Kyoto City, is a top dest ination for plant lovers and families alike. The Gardens features about 20 thematic areas showcasing about 12,000 types of species, including not only plants endemic to Japan but also a Western-style g arden and a rose garden. The Gardens’ number and diversity of plants and flowers mean that there is something unique to see in every season. In addition, there is a large conservatory that displays about 4,500 species from around the world (an extra admission fee is required for this area). The Botanical Gardens is located right next to the Kamogawa River, and it is also a great place to take a walk.
