Osaka Castle was built by military commander Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the late 1500s. Although the castle played a major role in the unification of Japan, the gates and stone walls remain well-preserved even today. Located in central Osaka City, it remains one of Japan’s most famous landmarks and a popular tourist destination. The vast grounds of the castle have been reconfigured into a park that is open to the public, and it is an especially popular spot during the cherry blossom season, during which the grounds are full of food vendors for people doing hanami.
The main castle building is five stories on the outside and eight stories on the inside, and visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of Osaka City from the top. It also serves as a history museum, with information on the castle, the city, and important historical events. Also located inside the castle grounds is Osaka-jo Hall, a large, multi-purpose arena that is used to host music and sports events.

4 out of 5 stars

Osaka castle is very beautiful. I was impressed by its size and really liked how this castle/park was surrounded by water. As soon as you enter the park, you will feel like you came to ancient Japan because there are many Japanese people dressed up in traditional Japanese outfits. There were also many cultural activities held inside the park. I didn’t participate in any, but watching many Japanese participating in those activities looked interesting.
The reason why I’m only giving 4 stars is because the inside of the castle building wasn’t very impressive. Inside of the castle was like Japanese historic museum. As a tourist who do not know much about Japanese history, it wasn’t entertaining. Since the castle is pretty tall, you can get a pretty nice view of the city from the highest floor of the castle. But overall, I don’t think it’s worth the ticket price to go inside the castle. Especially if you don’t know Japanese history. However, I really recommend visiting Osaka Castle. The castle is beautiful and the park is great place to spend time.
