Sugao no Taki Waterfall

Beautiful Scenery
Free Admission

Sugao no Taki Waterfall is a popular sightseeing spot famous for being the tallest waterfall in Kitakyushu City. It is a three-tiered waterfall, the top level reaching a height of about 30 meters, and its water is sourced from Mt. Fukuchiyama. While Sugao is also the name of the area, it's said that the waterfall is named so because the spray from the falls will cause makeup to wash off visitors' faces, causing them to return to being bare-faced, or "sugao" in Japanese.
The colors of the surrounding trees change with the seasons: pink cherry blossoms in spring, green leaves in summer, and red and orange leaves in autumn, so visitors can feel and enjoy the blessings of nature. The spray from the falls is especially enjoyable during hot summers, so visitors can refresh both body and mind while immersing themselves in the forest.
