Tatsukushi Kaigan Coast in Kochi Prefecture is Japan's first designated marine park. Located in Kochi Prefecture, it is known for its multitude of interesting rock formations including some called “tatsukushi,” literally meaning “dragon skewers.” On the west side of the beach is the Ashizuri Seabed Museum, which operates as an underwater observatory. At the museum, visitors can actually go down inside an underwater tunnel and get a firsthand look at all sorts of natural sea creatures as well as read about their characteristics and habitats.
