Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Jinja Shrine

History
Family-friendly

The Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Jinja Shrine is located in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. One of the few surviving shrines combining Buddhist and Shinto elements, it managed to emerge safely from the tribulations of the Meiji restoration. Popular for being a “coin washing” shrine, it is believed by locals that, through the washing of money in a shrine ritual, your money will be doubled. It is a good deal of fun to test your favor while taking in the natural beauty of the Zeniarai Benzaiten Shrine. It is a bit out of the way in a quiet residential area and you need to go through a small tunnel to enter its main area.
