It is about 30 minutes by train from Kyoto Station to Uji City. As soon as you are in the Uji city, you can feel the atomospher of the Heian period still existing, and the Uji Green Tea. In this tour, we visit two World Heritage sites, Phoenix Hall of Byodo-in Temple and Ujigami Shrine. Ujigami Shrine is said to be the oldest shrine in Japan. The Phoenix Hall of Byodo-in built in the Heian period represents the “Paradise”. You can see valuable cultural assets and national treasures in the precincts. For lunch, you could enjoy a matcha lunch at "Tatsumiya" located along the Uji River. Please enjoy the 9-item lunch set with matcha powder in every dish making it a superb matcha lunch that you won't find anywhere else(option). After lunch, why not experience a tea room after strolling along the Uji River? On the way to the tea room, there are many sweets shops and tea shops based on Uji tea.
