Journey to Satoyama woodland in Sasayama
What we'll do
This tour would give you the experience unforgettable. Satoyama is a woodland area near the village and a well reserved place for rice field and vegetable farm. People can see the Japanese country side landscape in good old days. Sasayama is located only 70 min. away from Osaka. Taking a local train for a while, you would notice being surrounded by beautiful nature. After taking a walk, please enjoy the mesmerizing French food in a traditional Japanese house which was built 150 years ago. The chef uses the local food and delicately works to serve the wonderful meal. You'd be surprised at the series of dishes like art works. Let's also visit the street with the traditional merchant houses on both sides. They are from about 400 years ago. The new and old houses are well blended and give you a unique atmosphere. Groumet, beautiful landscape and history would be the main factor of this tour.
Meeting Place
Your guide will meet you at the central gate on the first floor of Osaka station. The central gate area is quite wide, so stay in the center of the central gate area near the ticket machines. Your guide will be standing with a name board.

The tour is held every day except Wednesday. In the case the French restaurant for lunch is already full with the reservation, the tour will not be held.

Route

1Maruyama Village
A small village of 12 thatched houses. Located in a middle of mountains and a river is running through the village. You can see the beautiful traditional farmers houses and they are well preserved. Let's visit a small shrine which is worshiped by the local people. Please enjoy the nice walk in the serene atmosphere.

2French restaurant "Hiwa no kura"
Please enjoy the brilliant lunch at a French restaurant in Maruyama village. The chef uses the local food and applies a unique magic on the food. You'd be amazed by the beautiful harmony of the food he works on. The restaurant is in a renovated Japanese traditional house of 150 years. The French food served here would be the unforgettable memory in Japan.

3Kawaramachi old merchant town
Let's go exploring the old traditional merchant street stretching about 600 meters. You'd feel like you made a time trip to "Edo era" about 400 years ago. Shops and cafes are lining along the street. Your guide will show you around the street and take you to the local shrine with beautiful vermilion gates if you have extra time. You'd forget the time passing being surrounded by the unique architecture.
