The highlight of this trip is definitely the beautiful scenery of the mountains and townscape. Spring, we will stroll under cherry blossoms blooming along the local river. Summer, we enjoy the greenness of rice growing in the fields under the sunlight. Needless to say, the autumn foliage is beautiful. We will see the mountain slopes turning red and yellow. Finally winter, we will see the mountains sleeping silently under a layer of snow.

This museum is one of the largest ceramic art museums in Japan, exhibiting domestic and international ceramics collected based on different themes each season. The most significant collection is the local folk art called Tamba-yaki. Tamba-yaki developed around the 12th century as daily necessities, such as water bottles, big jars and bowls. From the 17th century onwards, it developed into a luxury item decorated with special techniques. Despite being a high quality work of art, Tamba-yaki has a warm and gentle appearance that makes you want to hold it in your hands every day as a daily necessity.

There are countless small pottery shops dotting the valley surrounded by mountains. Many of them are potteries with a history of several hundred years that have been passed down from generation to generation, and each one produces works with different styles and characters.
