Hanabi・um, the Fireworks Tradition and Culture Preservation Museum, is located in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. The city itself is widely known as the location of the National Fireworks Festival Omagari Fireworks, which takes place on the last Saturday of August each year, as well as for its monthly fireworks displays.
At the permanent exhibits, visitors can learn all about fireworks through displays about the world’s first fireworks and the history of the development of fireworks in Japan, realistic models of fireworks balls, impactful videos of fireworks, and more. Additionally, there are also event exhibits at which, depending on the time, visitors will be able to see a variety of different displays, including award-winning works from the All Japan Fireworks Competition.
A trip to this museum is sure to deepen visitors’ interest in fireworks and make watching future fireworks displays even more fun.
