The Kitakyushu Museum of Natural History and Human History was built on the former factory site of Nippon Steel Yawata Works. The museum is a large-scale learning space with a variety exhibits on history and the evolution of life. There are plenty of things worth seeing, such as the displays of stuffed mammals and birds in the Diversity of Life exhibit, the Discovering Nature exhibit where you can observe the nature of northern Kyushu, and the Time Traveling Room that has books on the skeletal structures of dinosaurs. There are also exhibits for kids and a playroom for toddlers, ensuring fun for people of all ages. A variety of events are held throughout the year as well, including a wildlife observation that begins with a lecture on the history of nature and handmade craft workshops. Parents and children alike can enjoy this museum of the journey of life, so make sure to stop by if you have a chance.
