The Kobe Muslim Mosque is the oldest mosque in Japan, originally built for Muslims coming from India. The interior is elaborately decorated in the traditional Turkish style. With brilliant prayer halls and chandeliers, beautiful carpets, simple stained glass colored uniformly yellow, and onion-shaped carvings, the interior is a sight to behold. During World War Two, as all of the buildings in the vicinity of Kobe Muslim Mosque were destroyed except the mosque. For both fans of history, or Muslims looking for the rare mosque in Japan, the Kobe Muslim Mosque is a great destination to visit. Please wear moderate clothing that does not expose too much skin.
