Mt. Omuro in Shizuoka Prefecture is a long-extinct cinder cone volcano that sports a conical shape, almost like a rice bowl. The steep slopes of the mountain mean that hiking is not allowed, but there is a ski-style chair lift that visitors can ride up to the volcanic crater at the top. There are a number of buildings and shops at the summit where visitors can buy souvenirs or rent archery equipment to use at the archery range located inside the crater.
The mountain is actually part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, and it is also designated as a National Natural Monument, and the views from the summit are sublime. There is plenty of flowers and greenery to look out on, and on clear days one will be able to see as far as the ocean and even Mt. Fuji.
