Mt. Omuro in Shizuoka prefecture is a long extinct volcano with a conical, rice bowl shape. Given the slope of Mt. Omuro, hiking it is prohibited to prevent probable injury to hikers. Instead, there is a ski-style chair lift that will carry you up to the volcanic crater. There are a number of buildings located by the upper station, where you can buy souvenirs, or rent archery equipment for the archery range located inside the crater. Better still are the views offered on top of the mountain. On clear days, you can see all the way to Mt. Fuji. If you're looking for a great view or an especially unique location to practice your hand at archery, Mt. Omuro is the place to visit.
