Kanagawa

Kanagawa Prefecture, near Tokyo, is the second largest prefecture in Japan by population, being home to Yokohama City. It only takes about 30 minutes by train from Yokohama to Tokyo, and it said that the city is located roughly in the center of Japan’s islands, though we usually speak of it as being part of Eastern Japan. Kanagawa is also famous for its beautiful nature, the hot springs of Hakone and Yugawara and the Tanzawa Mountains. Kamakura city, also found in Kanagawa, occupies an important place in Japanese history: it was the seat of the first military government (Shogunate) from the late 12th century.
