The main branch of the Aomori Gyosai Center is located in Furukawa Market, an Aomori City public kitchen near Aomori Station. From fish caught just that morning off the nearby coast to fresh fish from all over the country, the Center always has a plethora of seafood lined up on display.
Even early in the morning, the shop is crowded with people who have come to eat nokkedon, an Aomori specialty. Nokkedon is a dish made of steamed rice topped with more or less whatever ingredients you like, but usually including local fresh seafood; you can make it however you want, so each nokkedon is unique. Even if you're not keen on raw fish, you can use other local ingredients such as grilled fish, meat, and common side dishes to make the perfect nokkedon just for you!
