Every month different Kabukiza performance is performed in this theatre. This traditional architecture is splendid. In the B2 floor, there is Kobikicho plaza where you can buy some handcraft souvenirs related to Kabukiza and Japanese goods and spend the times waiting for the performance. One of the best things here is that you can buy the ticket for a single act. I think it’s a good choose for tourists who don’t know much about Kabukiza but feel curious about it. One single act lasts for 30 minutes to 90 minutes. It costs from 1000 around to 2000 around. A full performance has 3 to 4 acts. The matinees start at 11: 30 a.m. The evening one start at 4:30 p.m. A staff will stand by the gate of the theatre and guide those who want to buy single act tickets. I watched the first act of the evening performance. And I bought the tickets 2 hours before the performance. It lasted for 27 min and costed me 800 yen. Audience choosing the tickets of single acts can only stay at the back row in the fourth floor. And if you want to see actors’ facial expressions, you can bring a telescope with you. You need to gather at the theatre about 30 mins before the act you’re going to see, and then enter the theatre in order and choose a seat by yourself. And you can rent a “G-marc guide” to help you understand the performance. It has English and Japanese versions and costs 500 yen. I didn’t get one, but I think I should have done. Because most parts of the performance are in the form of songs and conversations. It’s almost impossible to understand it through body language. But I still find it interesting. Their clothes and make up are gorgeous.
