This is a beach located about 1 kilometer west of Izumo-taisha, Shimane prefecture. It is known as the site of “Kuni-Yuzuri (transfer of the land), “Kuni-Biki” (Pulling the land in), a legend where the gods tied a rope to islands and pulled them together in order to expand the land in ancient Japanese myths. Over on the sandy beach, there is the iconic Bentenjima, which enjoys great popularity and is crowded in the summer as a great swimming area.
