Really peaceful place, filled with a lot rich history. This is a great place to come to if you just want to get out of the loud and busy city for a little bit, relax and just enjoy some of the serenity that the surrounding forest has to offer.

A trip to the Meiji Jingu shrine is worth it for many reasons: it remains one of the major Shinto shrines in Tokyo, its super convenient location being a 10-minute walk from Harajuku station, plus the fact that it is located next to the funky, modern Harajuku perfectly reflects the traditional yet futuristic image tourists tend to have of Japan. Killing two birds with one stone and adding a cool, shaded park into the mix, it is definitely worth spending time here learning about why sake and wine barrels are donated to the shrine or perhaps writing a wish and hanging it around the wishing tree for the new year.

This shrine is located right next to Harajuku station. It was cool to see a shrine located right next to one of Tokyo’s most popular shopping place for teens. Unlike the entrance of the walkway to the shrine, it was so peaceful and quiet when I arrived to the shrine. It was also cool to see some Japanese walking around with traditional Japanese costumes. One of the coolest thing about Tokyo to me is that Japanese tradition coexists with modernity. This shrine displays exactly how Japanese keep their traditions alive in Tokyo.

Located in the middle of an expansive lush park next to Harajuku, this shrine is one of the most iconic sites in Tokyo. The only thing that disturbs the peace of the gardens are the hordes of tourists, but even that did not bother me too much as the park is very big. At the shrine itself I also got lucky enough to witness a traditional wedding taking place there, which was quite a surreal event. Check the weather forecast ahead of time because bad weather will completely spoil your visit.

Peaceful experience in the middle of Harajuku and Yoyogoi park. Very beautiful scenery and calming nature. I loved walking through the shrine and this may be one of my favourites in Tokyo. it is located in the heart of Tokyo and close to some great spots to enjoy after. My walk was calming and the scenery made it even better
